Wheelwiz | Promo Email “Upgrade Your Ride”

Client: Wheelwiz.ca

Role: Email & SMS Marketing Specialist

Tools Used: Klaviyo, Figma (visual QA), Grammarly (copy QA)

Project Type: Promo Campaign Email

Industry: Automotive eCommerce (DTC)

Date: May 2023

The Challenge

Wheelwiz wanted to drive a surge in wheel and tire sales ahead of the summer season. The team had a loyal base, but needed stronger engagement from casual browsers and new leads — especially those hesitant about online purchases. The brief was simple: highlight the 7% discount, push the 100% fitment guarantee, and build trust with new customers in one clean scroll.

The kicker? It had to feel high-end and easy to skim, even on mobile.

The Strategy

Rather than leading with a coupon code like most auto brands, I flipped the approach:

Inspire first, convert second.

The “Upgrade Your Ride” headline set the tone — aspirational, not just transactional. From there, I layered in recognizable wheel brands, bold product visuals, and a strong CTA above the fold. The middle section focused on trust levers: 100% fit guarantee, 1,200+ Google reviews, and real customer testimonials. Finally, I added product categories at the bottom to extend browsing time and offer something for every kind of shopper.

Execution

  • Built in Klaviyo’s drag-and-drop builder with reusable components for speed

  • Mobile-first design with high-contrast CTAs, large touch targets, and vertical stacking

  • Custom-designed icons and layout hierarchy for TPMS, accessories, and tires

  • Strategic send time based on open rate analysis (mid-week, 11:00 a.m. local)

Results

  • +25% CTR compared to the previous promo campaign

  • +18% lift in mobile engagement (SMS follow-up helped extend campaign life)

  • Marked improvement in first-purchase conversion rates during the week of launch

  • This layout was later repurposed as a “template shell” for future Wheelwiz promos

Why It Worked

This campaign worked because it balanced aspiration with reassurance. Customers weren’t just told to buy, they were shown a vision of their next upgrade, backed by fitment guarantees and real reviews. It’s a great example of how even in highly functional industries, emotional appeal drives action.
